An important Message from Ella Baker Center for Human Rights

"If there was no social networks, it would have never been sparked." - Google executive Wael Ghonim on the uprising in Egypt

For us at the Ella Baker Center, the events in Egypt are a victory for people-led social change. People-powered action, driven by hope and the belief that things can and should be better, is how change happens. The Egyptian people proved that loud and clear.
Additionally, social media -- Facebook, Twitter, Google Groups and more -- proved to be a cornerstone of the revolution in Egypt. Reminding us that modern day social change relies on modern day technology. From our campaign to close the abusive, ineffective youth prisons in California to our work to connect environmental and economic justice, join us online to get breaking news, media and actions.
