Outsourcing Jobs

In Congress, as a Wall Street banker and on corporate boards, Congressman Kasich consistently supported policies that undermined American workers and outsourced American jobs.

In 2001, Kasich became a director of Invacare, a healthcare equipment manufacturer in Elyria. “Former Congressman joins Invacare board.” Plain Dealer, 3/3/2001.
Congressman Kasich voted for permanent free trade with China, which opened the door for a flood of cheap Chinese imports that affected Invacare’s ability to compete and paved the way for outsourcing. H.R. 4444, Roll call vote #228, 5/24/2000.

Then, Kasich personally signed off on a policy of outsourcing jobs from Invacare’s Ohio facilities to China and Mexico. Invacare Annual Reports to Shareholders, 2005-2010.
