The Vatican Bank AKA the Institute for Works of Religion is being investigated for money laundering.  It has previously been suspected of doing nefarious deeds for the Sicilian Mafia and the Gambino family, among others. The bank is run by a CEO, who reports to a group of Cardinals and, ultimately, to the Pope.
