Thank you for your fight against Senate Bill 5 in your community.  Because of you, we have come a long way in a very short period of time.  I’m writing  today to give you a quick update on where we stand in our efforts to repeal the anti-middle class SB5.  Here is a rundown by the numbers:

•    42 days left to collect signatures
•    54% of Ohioans say they want SB5 repealed
•    88 counties participating
•    10,000+ trained volunteers
•    3% in 44 counties needed, at minimum
•    231,147 signatures needed in total
•    Countless inspiring stories from the field

And here is one of these stories, straight out of Greene County:
Eileen, Beavercreek activist, telephoned all registered Democrats in her neighborhood and told them when she’d be out on her front lawn to collect signatures.  Eileen brought a large hand-lettered sign outside with her, alerting passing drivers to stop by to stop SB5.  Her first petition filled up in two days.  Next she offered to help a woman one neighborhood over who is busy caring for an ailing husband.  She made the calls and filled a second petition.  Now she is calling a third neighborhood.

As Eileen’s story shows, this effort will demand more of every one of us.  Whether it is another door knock, another phone call, or another dollar donated, we must continue to do more.  Ohio’s families and Ohio’s future depend on it.

It was people like you who fought for the employee rights and protections that built America’s middle class.  Now a radical right-wing agenda pushed by John Kasich and the Republicans in the legislature is threatening those rights.  Now is our chance to stand up and send a message: NOT SO FAST.

In Solidarity,

Liz Brown
Political Director
